Exhibition Furniture – Egyptian Mummies

The Montréal Museum of Fine Arts enlisted Atelier Gris to create display cases to safeguard the authentic mummies presented as part of the Egyptian Mummies exhibition.  

The collaboration between the MMFA and Atelier Gris resulted in ultra thin display cases that allowed for maximum visibility of the mummies while also being easy to disassemble for international transport. Equipped with lights, they were airtight to create the microclimatic conditions necessary to preserve—as well as solid enough to protect—the 3,000-year-old treasures inside them. The delicate yet sturdy high-precision steelwork by Atelier Gris was vital to this event honouring the beauty and importance of the exhibits.
